Greetings everyone!!!

I hope that this week finds you all well…

All IS well here…Thanks again to all of you who sent me “Get Well” wishes as I recouperated from “the croop”…I’m 100% again and back in the flow…

The biggest news of the week is that I have been nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year in the SoulTracks Awards…I know it sounds cliche to say “I’m just grateful to be nominated”, but it is the truth! To be nominated alongside comrades like Frank McComb and Eric Roberson is a huge honor…and one that I don’t take lightly. The winner, however, is up to YOU! Please go to http:/ /www.soultracks.com/awards.htm to cast your vote!! The deadline is Nov 15th, so please forward this email to your friends and ask them to vote as well!!!

We are a little less than two weeks away from the first broadcast of “Out The Box with Tim Dillinger”. “Out the Box” is my radio show which will launch on Sunday, November 5th on Jazz Syndicate Radio (www.jazzsyndicate.co.uk). The show will broadcast at 2 pm and midnight GMT (UK Time), so be sure to check your own time zone to determine when it will air for you. The first 30 shows are already booked…and I have some incredible guests lined up: Nikki Giovanni, Frank McComb, Sandra St. Victor and Family Stand, Billy Porter, Tata Vega, James Day and more!!! So be sure to tune in every week starting November 5th!!!

Finally, for those in the Nashville area, I have joined the panel on Freestyle on WFSK (88.1). The show is hosted by Ron Wynn and airs on Mondays at 6:00 pm. I will join the show on Monday, November 6th and will be on every other week. Be sure to tune in EVERY week to hear the discussions!

Most importantly, we are nearing voting time in the political arena…If you are not registered to vote, please, please, please register and cast your vote. Your voice is vital and necessary. We live in serious times…and being a part of the voting process is our way of expressing our views. Please don’t take the responsibility lightly.

Again, thanks to all of you for your support…If you haven’t already picked up “The Muse”, you can do so by visiting www.cdbaby.com/timdillinger, www.amazon.com or www.timdillinger.com. If you are in the Nashville area and want to physically purchase your CD, you can do so by going to Grimey’s Music or Davis-Kidd Bookstore in Green Hills.

Don’t forget to come by the Forum at www.timdillinger.com and check out the Daily Thought!

Stephanie McKay * Stephanie McKay
Astralwerks
EP CD * In Stores Now

Growing up in the Bronx, McKay’s diverse musical education started with her older brother’s 70s soul and funk collection, listening to classic pop station WABC and hearing Grandmaster Flash, Jimmy Castor, James Brown and Afrika Bambaataa in constant rotation on the block. A former dancer who grew up studying at The Alvin Ailey school, the singer/songwriter toured the world with the Brooklyn Funk Essentials and Europe with Amp Fiddler, lent her vocals to tracks by Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Tricky and Roy Hargrove and played lead guitar in Kelis’ band. After McKay traveled to England to work with Portishead founder Geoff Barrow on her first album, things started connecting. The mastermix of Bristol and Bronx proved a worthy sonic experiment, but while her debut McKay carried over Barrow’s trademarked Portishead sound her sophomore album Tell It Like It Is is truly Stephanie’s own vision.

As witnessed on her debut EP, that precedes the full length album dropping next year, Stephanie McKay is using hip-hop as the foundation to build her compositions, yet refuses to limit her beat-box inspirations to merely rapping over obvious samples. Instead she fuses her powerful urban poetics creatively with sonic splashes of rock, pop, soul, and, of course hip-hop. From the gutbucket guitar that conjures windy city bluesmen wailing their ax’s on aboard a speeding freight train on “Tell It Like It Is” to the thick slap of bass and vintage keyboards on “Money,” Stephanie McKay brings a stunning collection of musical compositions that fuse McKay’s powerful urban poetics, which effortlessly combines soul, hip-hop, funk and rock. Catch her live in New York City on October 31st at Hiro Ballroom and November 4th at Canal Room.
