Heather Park News
Hi ,
I know it’s been a long time since the last newletter, but it’s been a busy summer! We’ve gotten a lot of recording done on the new project, and we’re still continuing to put it together. Hopefully will have some new materials for y’all to hear real soon.
But, I just wanted to send a SAVE THE DATE!
Thursday, September 27th 8pm! @ The Village Underground, NYC
After an incredible show at the Emergenza Finals @ Webster Hall, one of the judges loved our performance so much, he booked us for a special gig at the Village Underground! It’s really important that we get a lot of folks out there. (Basically, if we get tons of folks, we get to play at another, really exclusive showcase!) So I’m letting y’all know early! No excuses this time…
More deets to come. Hope you have a beautiful rest of summer! See you in Sept!
peace & light,
HP

ONUTTS Anniversary Listening Party – September 10th
ONUTSS extends a “special invitation” to one & all to come down to the elegant, yet intimately warm and inviting Tov’s on Worth Street for this fantastic listening party to hear music from two great artists!
Atlanta’s Melissa Young (myspace) is quickly becoming a name that is on the tip of everyone’s tongues. Her song, “Just A Girl” was recently added as a downloadable feature on Soultracks.com. If you haven’t gotten it, don’t wait! Melissa has her own sound, her own style — you won’t listen to her singing and say, “wow, she sure does sound like … when I close my eyes!”
South Carolina transplant and now calling himself a New Yorker, Jerome (myspace) has traveled the world and impressively holds a formal degree in Musical Theater with a Piano Minor. Jerome has appeared at the World Famous Apollo and was music director for Sunday Gospel & Jazz Brunch on 42nd Street at the legendary Soul Cafe, from the TV Show New York Undercover. He is also the Assistant Musical Director for Tony Award Winner George Faison’s Respect Project. Jerome writes for up and coming artists in various music genres like Urban Gospel, Soul, R&B, and Pop. Musical Theater writing is also a passion
InJoy Enterprises encourages all of our friends to support ONUTTS as they continue to do great things to promote the independent music scene.

ART FOR PROGRESS ART IN DESIGN—
Art For Progress presents The Art of Design
This September, Art For Progress(AFP) will present its third annual
fashion event featuring two emerging fashion designers during New York
Fashion Week. This year’s show will feature AFP members Lu Kun and Selma
Karaca. In conjunction with Art For Progress, Lu Kun is the first couture
designer from Shanghai to participate in fashion week. Karaca was the
2006 winner of AFP’s international fashion competition. The event will
showcase two of the most talented international designers.
Lu Kun is quickly becoming the newest fashion sensation in Asia,
especially since his recent participation in the Singapore Fashion
Festival in March. As winner of the “Best Young Designer in China” award
by the Shanghai Fashion Federation in 2004, he has become a growing
presence in the international fashion scene. This coming September 3rd,
Lu Kun will be featured in the second annual Munich International Fashion
Day, a charity event sponsored by Audi. He will be the first non-European
designer to participate in this prestigious festival. His work has been
featured in both Vogue China and Elle China magazines, among many others.
Selma Karaca, a native of Turkey and resident of New York City, was
educated in Fine Art. She began her fashion career as a milliner, selling
her artistic hats to high-end stores in Istanbul and Europe. Now her focus
is on couture clothing with luxurious hand-detailing. As a finalist in the
2004 Gen Art Styles avant-garde competition, she has become known not only
as a great designer, but as a true artist in a category all her own. She
was recently featured in the Queens Museum.
The Art of Design event will be held on September 6th, 2007 at the AVEnts
loft in Chelsea, and will be on the official Fashion Calendar.
The show is scheduled for 6pm with an after-party to follow. AVEnts is
located at 15 West 28th Street, 10th Flr.
RSVP to events@artforprogress.org or visit www.artforprogress.org for more
details.

Summertime Funk
To all our fans and friends…we have some free downloads. The first of many to come, “Summertime Funk”! The way we chill in the Carolinas! It’s a Bah Samba mix! For you guys that want to hear the original, go to Itunes. Also we have a couple tracks. If you want get down with us on this…just let me know. I’m still trying to finish the “Bill Curtis and Friends” Cd, that I’ve been talking about. Right now I’m running short of funds and if any of you guys want to donate…it could be a “Fan’s Donation” Cd. I’ve never heard of this before, but it could be a first! Damn! Not a bad idea since the music business is changing so fast. Why not let the fans pay in advance. I think I might be on to something. Just click on this link. Bill Curtis – Fatback Band
