NIKKI WADE I AM A DIVA! ARTIST SPOTLIGHT Nikki Wade is a multitalented artist, who dares not limit herself in the realm of entertainment. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she as been a performance artist since the age of four, when she starred in her first play “Rabbit Tales”. This led Nikki to a 14 year run in the theatre world, performing in numerous plays around the city. In her senior year in high school, Nikki found her niche as an R&B vocalist, where she became well known in the metro Seattle area for her soul stirring vocals, sexy persona and elaborate stage shows in which, she was aptly nicknamed “The Diva”. Nikki moved to Atlanta Georgia in 1996 to seriously pursue her music career. However, it wasn’t until 1998 that she began to rekindle her dramatic flare by embarking on Atlanta’s spoken word scene at Yin Yang Cafe. Thus began a steamy love affair of music & prose intermingled, to create a new type of viewing and listening pleasure. Using her sultry melodic vocals to introduce her poetic pieces, Nikki knew how to heat up the mic; her poetry centered on love, heartbreak, sensuality and the joys of womanhood. Since she has been on Atlanta’s entertainment “scene”, Nikki has not only recorded in some of Atlanta’s most reputable studios (i.e., DARP, Patchwerks, Stankonia, Success Records and Soul Asylum), produced by award winning producers (i.e., AKON & Chuckey Charles), she has also been an opening act for soul singers Raheim DeVaughn; Algebra; Donnie and Eric Roberson and been a featured guest on such radio stations as WVEE V-103.3, WAMJ 102.5, WRFG 89.3 & WCLK 91.9. Nikki has also had her poetic work published in V-103 Joyce Littel’s book “Poetic Moments”. In 2002, Nikki re-introduced her acting skills by capturing the lead role in two plays~”Soul Food or Fast Food” and “My Soul Untitled”. Nikki also created and hosted an ongoing erotic poetry set at Apache Cafe called “Soulrotica”. In 2003, Nikki began working for MetroBoyz Entertainment Group, as an event coordinator/booking agent/host/performer, after creating the neo-soul event “Brown Sugar Thursdays”. She also hosted the open mic poetry set called “The Cipher” presented by UrbanCity.com. Nikki was nominated for the 2003/2004 “Underground Icon of the year” award at the 2003 Atlanta Underground Awards and in the same year toured with the internationally acclaimed female rap group, the Caustic Dames. “The Diva” Nikki Wade was a recurring guest host on the Herside.net network and co-star of the Herside.net comedy “The Truth About us”, and is now CEO of her own booking agency, Divadom Entertainment Group. Recently, Nikki’s philanthropic side has emerged. In January 2007, Ms. Wade founded the Christine Marie Hunter Cancer Fund for African American Senior Citizens and in October 2007 she successfully created her first benefit concert “Soul 2 Soul, The Jena 6/Genarlow Wilson Benefit Concert”, at club Sugarhill and is now, working as director of fundraising for the National Action Network Atlanta Chapter.  An undeniable talent Nikki Wade is truly “A DIVA”!

As we enter into this New Year of 2009, let’s not dwell on last year’s tribulations but, reflect and carry with us the motivating energy that allows us to pick up our spirits, dust ourselve’s  off & forge ahead with a renewed sense of life. Dawn has wowed audiences of every genre, being influenced by such legends as Aretha Franklin & Chaka Khan but her 7 octave range is evocative of Angela Winbush and the days of real “sangin’”. As she works on her debut project “State of Emotion”, this seasoned stage and studio performer’s musical ability is undeniable and her desire to share her gift with the world is limitless.
